Violence against Women and Girls Commission

In November 2021, Plymouth City Council announced a new multi-agency Commission to tackle male violence against women and girls in Plymouth. The Commission’s ambition is to see Plymouth as a city leading the way on the issue of male violence against women and girls, raising the bar in terms of expectations across a range of sectors – including education, local public section organisations and employers – to play their part and go beyond what is already expected of them.

Help us end male violence against women and girls

One of the recommendations of the Commission is to collaborate with partners across the city and with people with lived experience to define, design and implement a Charter Mark scheme.

Sign our pledge

One of the recommendations of the Commission is to collaborate with partners across the city and with people with lived experience to define, design and implement a Charter Mark scheme.

Whilst this scheme is being developed, we are asking organisations across the city to sign a pledge, outlining their support for the recommendations made by the Commission, pledging that they will work towards being an organisation / business that aims to be in a position to:

  • Provide a named responsible person to champion and lead activity
  • Adopt the Violence Against Women and Girls Charter Mark Scheme when it launches
  • Not tolerate sexist or misogynistic language and behaviour
